A slow-journalism approach to European and global affairs.

Public Engagement & Feedback Policy

At Veritas Europaea, we believe that journalism is a two-way street. Because our publication is entirely independent and reader-supported, our ultimate accountability is to you.

We view public engagement not as a public relations exercise, but as a critical component of our editorial process. This page outlines how we collect feedback, how we respond to it, and how we prioritize transparency in everything we do.

1. How We Collect Feedback

We actively encourage our readers to challenge our analysis, point out blind spots, and share their expertise. You can reach out to us through the following channels:

  • General Feedback & Editorial Suggestions: Have an idea for a long-form piece or thoughts on a recent article? Email us at office[at]veritaseuropaea.eu.
  • Corrections: If you believe you have spotted a factual error, please email corrections[at]veritaseuropaea.eu with the subject line “Correction” and include a link to the article and the specific text in question.
  • Subscriber Community: Our €2/week members have direct access to our editorial process via our regular subscriber newsletters, where we frequently ask for input on upcoming topics.

2. How We Respond to Feedback

As a solo-operated, slow-journalism publication, we read every single piece of feedback we receive. While we cannot guarantee a personalized response to every email, we follow these strict protocols:

  • Actionable Criticism: Feedback that provides well-reasoned, constructive criticism or highlights missing context is reviewed directly by our founder and editor, Jan Bostl. It is used to inform our future reporting and refine our analytical approach.
  • Handling Errors: We prioritize accuracy over speed. If a reader points out a verifiable factual error, we investigate it immediately. If we are wrong, we will update the article and append a clear, dated correction notice at the bottom of the piece, explaining exactly what was changed. We do not stealth-edit our mistakes.
  • Harassment Policy: We welcome vigorous debate and sharp criticism. However, we do not engage with or tolerate feedback that includes hate speech, threats, or harassment.

3. Engaging with the Public

The “slow news” philosophy extends to how we interact with our audience. We do not chase viral engagement on algorithms or encourage toxic comment sections. Instead, our public engagement focuses on depth and community:

  • The Newsletter: We use our newsletter not just to broadcast articles, but to explain how we reported a piece, the challenges we faced in the research, and what we learned along the way.
  • Direct Access: Unlike major corporate media outlets, Veritas Europaea removes the barrier between the journalist and the reader. When you reach out to us, you are speaking directly to the person who researched and wrote the analysis.

4. Prioritizing Transparency

Trust is earned through radical transparency. To ensure you always know who is behind the information you consume, we maintain the following standards:

  • Clear Ownership: We publicly disclose that Veritas Europaea is 100% independently owned and operated by Jan Bostl.
  • Financial Clarity: We openly publish our funding model. We rely on reader subscriptions and automated programmatic advertising. We do not accept corporate sponsorships, government funding, or private editorial grants.
  • Sourcing: We prioritize linking directly to primary sources—data sets, official documents, and full transcripts—so you can verify our analysis for yourself.

We are building an alternative to the exhausting, 24/7 news cycle. Your feedback, expertise, and willingness to hold us accountable are what make this project possible.
